These are beautiful richly textured kilims, all handcrafted from Gazni wool and are vegetable dyed kilims. Afghan kilims are renowned worldwide for being hard wearing flat woven rugs, with brilliant colours unique to the region.
Chobi kilims are made using beautiful soft vegetable dyes made from apricots, mulberries, onion skins, olives, tumeric, madder root, indigo etc and are made using locally produced hand spun wool.
These kilims come from the Afghanistan Uzbekistan border region - exquisite pieces from families there, a true village craft. UZBEK KILIMS MAIMENA
From the Maimana regional province of northern Afghanisthan, made from locally produced wool, by the Afghan Uzbeks. They feature traditional motifs and guls, dating back centuries to the times when Ghengis Khan was eating his tandoori chicken and dhal on kilims of this type before pressing on through the Hindu Kush to rape and pillage northern India.

BERGISTAS AND QUILANOS
Quilanos and Bergista rugs are half carpet half kilim also known as a sumak, originating from Kurdish and Turkoman people in northern Afganisthan and beyond. All wool and dyes are locally produced to create a masterpiece from a disappearing world. All these rugs are mostly flat woven and lighter in weight than our other rugs. They make great wall hangings and rugs for smaller rooms, on carpet, children's rooms etc
